The Fiji Police Force said the overall crime rate in the country went down by 6% in the third quarter of this year.
The serious crime rate for the last three months went down by 16%.
This has been revealed by Acting Police Commissioner, Ravi Narayan at the third quarter parade in Nasova this morning.
Narayan said they managed to reduce complaints received against Police officers by 74% as they achieved five of their eight key performance indicators in the third quarter of the year.
Narayan added they managed to reduce crime against women by 59%, however, 756 cases were reported.
There was also a reduction in crime against children by 25% as 314 cases were reported in the third quarter.
Narayan said the Fiji Police Force yearly expenditure also remains within budgetary allocations.
Meanwhile, the Force failed to achieve the reduction in overall crime by 10% and they also fell short of their detection rate by 1%.
The Force also did not achieve their KPI in road fatalities.
ACP Narayan said there is still room for improvement as they approach the busiest quarter of the year.
