The Fiji Police Force has applauded the effort of a crime prevention committee which resulted in the uprooting of Marijuana plants worth thousands of dollars in Savusavu.

Assistant Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the crime free committee identified the farm where it is believed that marijuana plants were cultivated.

The Committee informed police and officers from Savusavu Police station together with members of the crime free committee raided the farm and uprooted matured marijuana plants with a street value of thousands of dollars.

Four people have been interviewed and released pending investigations.

Police believe the four are the owners of the farm.

Meanwhile, a 25 year old man of Nabua has been interviewed and released by police after 4 plastic bags of dried leaves believed to be marijuana was confiscated from his house.

Police upon receiving information raided his house and dried leaves and some seeds were also confiscated.

The leaves have been sent to Koronivia for analysis.
