The credibility of the Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority is now in question.
FIRCA staff association general secretary, Kenneth Zinck said with the removal of Lepani Rabo and Joseva Leano raises serious questions and also questions the integrity of FIRCA.
However, FIRCA CEO Jitkoko Tikolevu said yesterday that in light of the new developments, Former Chief Auditors Lepani Rabo and Joseva Leano are now being investigated for possible breaches of the secrecy provision under Section 4 of the Income Tax Act.
The FIRCA CEO said the Authority will not at any time tolerate employees, whether current or former, breaching their oath of secrecy as the media being in possession of documents referring to the allegations is a violation of the secrecy laws under which FIRCA functions and is a serious criminal offence.
