The Ministry of Lands has started to crack down on holders of government land leases who are alleged to have illegally subbed leased the land.
Interim Lands Minister Netani Sukanaivalu told Village news that they have received information that certain lease holders to government land are sub leasing the land for personal gain.
He said they will ensure this is put to a stop.
The Lands Ministry has launched a nationwide drive to recover lease arrears on all state owned land which now stands at around $18 million.
Around one million dollars has been recovered in the first week of the exercise.
