Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry said he will not make any further comments in relation to the allegations of tax evasion over a period of time and the non-declaration of the source of income in his off-shore bank accounts from 2000 to 2003.
When approached by Village news this afternoon, Chaudhry said he will let the courts decide his innocence.
Chaudhry's legal counsel has confirmed that he will not file legal papers in court later today to sue The Fiji Times for defamation.
G.P Lala said they want to prepare well for the case before necessary papers are filed and this will be done in the next few days. He said the Fiji Times will have to prove the truth of their statements in court.
