Court rules in FTA’s favour
Justice Jitoko ruled that the interim government can not withhold the salaries of the teachers and the President of the FTA Tevita Koroi who has been suspended by the Ministry of Education as the Principal of Nasinu Secondary School.
The Judge also ruled that the interim administration must refrain from recruiting applicants to teaching positions in relation to those held by members of the FTA who went on strike, and that FTA President Tevita Koroi must resume his position as Principal of Nasinu Secondary School as and when school starts.
FTA General Secretary, Maika Namudu said they are glad with the judgment and hopes that the interim administration will adhere to the ruling.

However, the FTA members will not be paid for the two days on which they were on strike prior to the two week school break being brought forward by the interim government. Namudu said the members will have to forego these two days pay as it was expected. Justice Jitoko stresses that to disobey the ruling one would be found guilty of Contempt of Court.
