The Lautoka High Court has issued an injunction restraining the Fiji Football Association and the Lautoka Football Association from taking any action or transaction on behalf of Lautoka soccer pending further orders from the court.
The court issued the ruling today after former vice-president of the Lautoka Soccer Association, Peter Sudesh Singh took legal action against the Fiji FA and Lautoka FA.
Singh’s lawyer, Iqbal Khan has told the court that Fiji FA and Lautoka FA in breach of clause 34 of Lautoka soccer association statute held the annual general meeting of Lautoka soccer on 31st October.
Khan further told the court that any notice for the AGM shall be held after 14 days of notice being published in the local paper or circulated to the clubs of Lautoka soccer.
Khan has filed information in court saying that after enquiring from other soccer clubs in Lautoka, his client has been advised that no such notice has been sent to them in accordance with Lautoka soccer statute.
Khan told the court that Fiji FA advertised the notice on Fiji Sun on 18th October which falls short of the specific provision requiring 14 days’ notice.
He has also asked the court to make orders directing the Fiji FA and Lautoka FA to call for another annual general meeting of the Lautoka soccer association by giving 14 days’ notice.
The case has been adjourned to the 21st of this month.
