A couple and their friend were today handed a custodial sentence by Magistrate Aminiasi Katonivualiku after they pleaded guilty to two counts of larceny.

23-year-old Lusiana Waqabaca and her husband 21-year-old Isimeli Rafiq were sentenced to 8 months while 21-year-old Simon Shah was also sentenced to 8 months and had a 12 month bound over sentence was activated which means he will spend 20 months behind bars.

The court heard on the 15th of last month, Waqabaca a receptionist at the Sauna Bath in Laucala Bay locked up the money and belongings of two Korean nationals in a locker. The two had a total of $5,000 and mobile phones.

Waqabaca then called her two accomplices who came in and stole the money from the locker. They earlier pleaded guilty to the charges.
