The Minister of Education Dr Mahendra Reddy said the only way teachers can deal with sexual issues in schools is through counselling.
This follows some cases involving lesbian activities in an all girls boarding school.
Dr Reddy said the Ministry does not have a policy to deal with lesbianism in boarding schools.
In one case, a student has been told to be a day scholar after she was caught in some of these activities.
The Minister of Education stressed that no teacher is allowed to send any student home when dealing with this issue.
