The Consumer Council of Fiji is now embarking on another survey to ascertain whether the price of computers and cosmetics has decreased since government decided to remove duty on a number of items through the 2010 budget.

Government removed the fiscal duty on the import of perfumes, cosmetics, cameras and camcorders, sunglasses, video and electronic games, watches, laptops, IPods and jewellery and declared these items as duty free in authorised outlets.

Comsumer Council of Fiji CEO Premila Kumar said they believe that prices on these items have not been reduced despite the reduction in import costs.
