It has been a costly affair for the Gau athletics team to travel to Suva for the FMF Chow Games that kicks off tomorrow.
Team Coordinator, Aisake Kutunauga said that most of their students are making their first trip to Suva, most importantly, their first trip to take part in a competition of such importance.
Lutunauga said that the students from Gau have used the rugged terrain back home to train and they will be strong in the middle and long distance events.
A total of 17 Districts will be taking part in the two-day tournament namely Tonga, Suva, Nasinu, Rewa, Ra, Serua/Beqa, Namosi, Naitasiri, Tailevu North/Wainibuka now joining up, Nadi, Lautoka, Cakaudrove, Bua/Macuata, Taveuni, Kadavu and Koro.
Tonga will be bringing in 27 athletes and 5 officials.
The FMF Chow Games kicks off at 9am tomorrow with the Under-9 Girls Long Jump Finals, at the TFL stadium in Laucala Bay.
