The cost of rehabilitating those who have completely lost their homes due to Hurricane Tomas stands at more than $9 million.

DISMAC’s latest situation report revealed that 213 homes have been destroyed in the Northern Division while 296 homes have been destroyed in the Eastern Division.

DISMAC’s Acting Director Pajiliai Dobui said it will cost $9.4 million to assist those affected with the standard 24x16 home, which is normally given out following a natural disaster.

Dobui said the $9.4 million estimate will include the cost of labour to re-build homes.

The estimated cost of damage to various sectors stands at $67 million.
