Latest statistics confirm that the cost of living continued to increase in March.

The latest Consumer Price Index released by the Bureau of Statistics shows that the inflation rate in March stood at 7.5% only a 0.1 percent decrease from February.

However food prices increased again last month by 0.9 percent this included prices for bakery and wheat products, cereal, fresh meat, fruit juice, dairy products, tea, coffee, ovaltine, cocoa, spices, top dressings and market items such as beans, imported carrot, long green chillies, tomato, dalo, cassava, potatoes, pumpkin, peas and mixed vegetables.

Statistics also show increases in transportation costs with increases recorded for petrol, new tyres and spare parts.

There were slight decreases recorded in heating and lighting, durable household goods and clothing and footwear in the month of March.
