History has been created as the 2012 Coral Coast Sevens Tournament kicked off in the last hour with more than 200 people lining up in Sigatoka Town to witness the start of the tournament with a march from Sigatoka Town to Lawaqa Park.

It is a memorable start to the three day tournament as former All Blacks giant wing, Jonah Lomu officially unveiled the Jonah Lomu Walk of Fame commemorative plaque.

Some crunch matches are expected later this afternoon with defending champions Wardens Gold taking on Red Rock Two at 2pm while Waisale Serevi’s selection side will face Tomasi Cama Junior and Marika Vunibaka’s Lomaiviti Barbarians at 3:40pm.

Meanwhile, Central Coast Sevens runners up Sunnybank lost to Naviti 17-5 in the opening game and Hideaway Hurricanes beat Auckland Marist 19-17.

Davetalevu with Samisoni Viriviri, Ulaiasi Lawavou and Josefa Domolailai are currently playing Warwick.
