Australian pivot Quade Cooper has quit French club Toulon 12 months into his two‑year deal and is expected to return home to play Super Rugby for the Queensland Reds.
The 28‑year‑old struggled to secure a starting spot in Toulon's star‑studded line‑up, which includes former All Blacks Ma'a Nonu and Tom Taylor.
Fellow Aussie Matt Giteau, Welshman Leigh Halfpenny and South African Bryan Habana are also in the squad.
While Cooper is expected to return to the Reds, with whom he won a Super Rugby title in 2011, the Melbourne Rebels are also understood to be interested in his services.
The Reds will face the Rebels at 9.40pm.
Meanwhile the Crusaders will face the Hurricanes at 5.15pm Saturday while the Highlanders will face the Chiefs at 7.35pm.
When I get back to Aus I'm going to whoop @JarrydHayne at Fifa & in return he will join the super rugby franchise I join.. #DealOrNoDeal 😇
