Reds playmaker Quade Cooper is bracing himself for a battle of strength against Rebels playmaker James O’Connor in their Super Rugby duel.

O'Connor has been named as Rebels captain in what will be his 50th Super Rugby cap.

22 year old O’Connor has bulked up and now tips the scales at 90kg which is almost 10kg more than when he made his Wallabies debut in 2009.

While Cooper himself has bulked and toughened up due to his boxing career he has also worked on his defence after returning from his knee reconstruction last year.

The Reds host the Rebels at 8.40pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile at 6.35pm the Hurricanes meet the Crusaders.
