The Fiji Women's Crisis Centre believes that if a criminal has served his or her time than they could stand for elections as is their right.
FWCC coordinator and Fiji Human Rights Commissioner, Shameema Ali said a criminal who continues to take part in criminal activities should not be allowed to stand for elections, however if they have served time they could do so.
NFP's General Secretary, Pramod Rae, Ousted Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes and PCPI's Angie Heffernan all had similar sentiments.
This comes after Ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said earlier this week that convicted criminals who have served their time should be allowed to hold public office as it is their constitutional right.
