The Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha is hoping to collect large sums of money during their Convention at Lautoka's Churchill Park this weekend to assist victims of Hurricane Tomas.

Sabha Secretary Vijendra Prakash said they will ask their members to contribute at least $10 each towards this worthy course.

He added all money collected will be sent to the Labasa branch, which will then buy relief supplies and other materials to distribute among the victims.

Prakash said issues like the expiry of land leases, problems faced by rural schools and to have more shops in rural areas so that dwellers do not have to travel to towns and cities frequently, will also be discussed during the Convention.

According to Prakash they will also focus on Hindi studies in schools and would like Hindi to be made compulsory in schools for Indian students until Form 4.

Meanwhile, USP's Vice Chancellor, Professor Rajesh Chandra will be the Chief Guest doing the official opening of the Convention this Friday.
