Water disruptions continue in parts of the country with residents in affected areas getting more frustrated as they have been experiencing intermittent water supply for the past few weeks without explanation.
More than 80 families are affected with water disruptions in a settlement in Labasa.
A resident of Solove, Labasa, Naicker Muniappa said thet have been facing water disruptions for over two weeks now and there is still no word on what is the causing the problem.
Muniappa said residents living in the area have to cart water themselves and now that school has started the need for water is even greater.
He is also urging authorities to look into the matter.
Mother of two, Geeta Sami who resides in Lomolomo Lautoka said that having visitors on holiday in Fiji and experiencing water cuts paints a bad image of the country.
Sami said her relatives paid them a surprise visit and they were in a dilemma as water supply has been out in their area for the past few days.
Delainavesi resident, Jenny said it’s an everyday occurrence which is not on.
Meanwhile, a Wailoku resident Matthew Chand who also experienced water cuts over the weekend said that the Authorities need to realize that water is a necessity and that with an increase of reports of fires, people have a risk of losing all they own.
These residents said repeated calls to the Water Authority have been unsuccessful in solving their problems, despite consumers being on time with the payment of bills.
Repeated attempts to get hold of the Water Authority of Fiji have proved futile.
