The Fiji Rugby Union Chairman Bill Gavoka is hopeful that Fiji will be allowed to compete at next year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
Gavoka was reacting to the statement from the CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation who said that it is unlikely Fiji will be allowed to participate in next year's Games if the country's suspension from the Commonwealth remains in place.
He said dialogue should continue between Fiji and the Commonwealth because he believes that 7s rugby is the only sport from Fiji that can win a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Gavoka said 7s rugby is on the verge of being included in the Olympics and it can play a major role in next Games in India.
Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Games CEO Mike Hooper said the Federation will decide at a meeting next month if Fiji can send a team to the Games in New Delhi.
