The Ministerial Contact Group has ended their meeting with Ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and is currently with Ousted Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes and National Federation Party Leader Pramod Rae.
Laisenia Qarase said his meeting with the group went well and added he reiterated his call for elections in March 2009, as promised by interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama.
Their meeting with the two political party leaders Beddoes and Rae commenced this hour.
The group consisting Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith, his New Zealand counterpart Winston Peters and others are trying to get an update from key stakeholders, on whether Fiji is ready to have elections by March 2009, and whether preparatory work is on track to have elections in the first quarter of next year.
