The Consumer Council of Fiji has urged consumers to keep a record of chicken prices so that they can monitor any substantial increase in the prices of chicken.

This comes after a survey carried out by the Council reveals that there is a shortage of local chickens in the supermarkets.

Council Chief Executive Premila Kumar said traders should not take advantage of the removal of price control on local chickens adding that the removal of price control is only for the local chickens and not the imported ones.

Kumar said they will be monitoring the market.
