Consumers have been urged to check their receipts thoroughly after doing their household shopping from supermarkets.

This comes after the Consumer Council of Fiji received two complaints from consumers that some figures in their supermarket receipts do not add up.

The council said they received a complaint from a receipt conscious customer where his receipts clearly showed errors whereby the calculation of the unit price and the quantity bought were wrong.

The Council also said they received a complaint from a recipient of the Governments Food Voucher Programme who was charged normal price for an item that was on sale and after an investigation the council found out that the supermarket had not made changes to their cash registers for the item which was on sale.
