A pesticide labeled "Panther Pest Kill” being sold in the local market has been declared an illegal substance and people are urged not to purchase this item.
The Consumer Council of Fiji with the assistance of the Pest Control Association is currently in the process of addressing the issue as a matter of urgency because it poses hazardous risks to consumers who may have bought the product.
Consumer Council of Fiji spokesperson Josua Mudreilagi said the Council is concerned with the labeling of the product, the packaging and the door to door sales.
Mudreilagi said they are trying to track down the company trading as "Sprint to Kill" which is distributing the pesticide.
Pest Control Association revealed that a man by the name of "Steven" is suspected to be the person selling the unregistered and illegal pesticide "Panther Pest Kill."
Association Spokesperson David Chand said his cell number which is on the label of the gallon is not in service.
