These are the words of Consumer Council of Fiji CEO Premila Kumar at the launch of their nationwide campaign to raise awareness and highlight concerns with the Compulsory Third Party Insurance Policy, on the theme, "Insurance in Fiji: Who pays, who benefits and who loses".
Kumar highlighted that the policy is not sufficient to cover the cost of the 12 lives lost in the tragic Sigatoka bus fire last year.
At the launch, Kumar also alleged that the Insurance companies are operating illegally in classifying vehicle types under the policy.
However, General Manager Operations for Sun Insurance, Lolesh Sharma said the council is not going about its campaign in the right way and it should not be making allegations without getting their facts together.
Sharma also corrected the Consumer Council CEO on a number of case studies she presented where she claimed that insurance payments were not settled for people who were injured in motor vehicle accidents.
