Consumer Council of Fiji said they are disappointed with institutes that start operations overnight and disappear in the same breath leaving their students in limbo about their future.
On the recent revelation about the closure of a training institute in the Western Division Chief Executive Officer Premila Kumar said they are aware of the matter and are currently finding it difficult to track down the owner.
She also said they have received 34 complaints against higher education institutes in Fiji, offering courses without being registered and false claims being made about being accredited by various accrediting bodies.
Some parents have asked the Council for assistance after the closure of a training centre in the Western Division last month without prior notice to its students.
A parent earlier told Fijivillage that when his daughter went for her classes last month, it was padlocked and closed and there was no one to provide answers on the closure.
Numerous calls that have been made to the Centres in Ba, Lautoka and Sigatoka remain unanswered.
