The Consumer Council said the Fiji Electricity Authority fuel surcharge rate should be reduced as there is now sufficient water level in the Monasavu Dam.

This is the call from the Council Manager for Campaigns Information and Media Officer, Praneeta Singh to the Interim Government as they feel consumers are already paying too much for electricity.

Singh said they are calling for a reduction because the current wet weather experienced is providing sufficient water for the Monasavu Dam and also because fuel prices are decreasing.

The Transport, Works and Energy Ministry Information Officer, Sainiana Waqainabete said they will reserve their comments for the Interim Prime Minister and the Interim Finance Minister to give official comments on the matter.
