Police have confirmed that consultations are continuing with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on whether any further steps will be taken against Ballu Khan following the conspiracy to murder trial.
Spokesperson Ema Mua said the decision to start off the consultations was based on the comments made by Justice Paul Madigan last week.
Ballu Khan is now living in NZ after a permanent stay on the proceedings in relation to the case in 2008.
Meanwhile Khan's lawyer, QC Peter Williams has told Radio NZ that he has advised Ballu Khan that pursuing his compensation claims any further would be a waste of money.
