All awareness consultations for the draft People's Charter that are being conducted in schools will cease as from next week.

This is the directive issued by the interim Education Minister Filipe Bole who said this is to allow students to concentrate on upcoming external examinations.

However, consultations will resume on the 24th of November after all the external examinations.

Bole said the decision to continue with the consultations is based on the fact that the charter contains numerous issues and developments which young people will have to address and respond to and the Ministry would be failing in our duty if they were not informed of these very significant issues.

The Fijian Teachers Association has welcomed the move by the interim Education Minister Filipe Bole to suspend the draft Charter Consultations in schools from next week.

President Tevita Koroi said this is a good move as the students do need to concentrate on exams.

Koroi added even though consultations will resume on the 24th of November people have to keep in mind that it is optional.
