The construction work on the new police post at Beqa Island is expected to start in June next year.
The $710,000 project was initiated when Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama visited the island last year.
The project was incorporated with the 2015 police budget but due to the delay in acquisition of land the project has been rolled over to next year.
According to the Fiji Police Force, the mataqali has given a piece a land but they need 60% of landowners endorsement and currently they have 48%.
The Force is working with the District Officer’s Office and I-Taukei Land Trust Board to get other endorsement.
It was highlighted that the landowners requested $10,000 as goodwill.
The construction work on the new police post and duplex quarters is expected to finish in November next year.
