Ballu Khan's legal counsel Tevita Fa believes that the police and the military have breached a constitutional right, for not allowing Khan to have any visitors.

Fa said under the constitution, every citizen has a right to have visitors while they are in hospital, and in Ballu Khan's case, since he has not been charged for any criminal offence, the police do not have the powers to stop him from having any visitors.

He adds that he is the only person, that at this stage has been given time to visit Khan in his hospital bed and is only allowed 30 minutes to speak to him.

Fa said he is also surprised that Khan's partne, Agnes Bulatiko has also not been allowed to visit Khan since last Sunday.

Meanwhile, yesterday Assistant Police Commissioner Crime Nasir Ali said that Khan would not be allowed any visitors until the police spoke to him first.

Ali said that even his lawyer will now have to seek permission from police before he visits Khan in hospital.

Ali told Village News that Khan is alleged to have been involved in a serious crime and it is not proper for anyone to visit him.
