Police have charged a 36 year old police constable for allegedly assaulting a Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) officer in Victoria Parade last Friday night.
It has been confirmed the police officer asked the FNPF officer for his car keys when the Constable suspected him to be drunk.
The FNPF officer refused to give his car keys and it is alleged the police constable assaulted him.
A report was later lodged at Central Police Station after which the police constable was charged.
The police constable will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court this hour.
