Conrad Smith is set to sit out the Hurricanes match against the Blues at Eden Park on Saturday, but not due to the head knock that saw him leave the field against the Chiefs.

Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd said his captain had long been tagged to take the second of his two All Blacks rest weeks against the Blues.

That would mean Rey Lee-Lo starting at centre outside Ma’a Nonu, who would get his second rest week over the final three weeks of the season.

The Hurricanes will also be without prop Reggie Goodes who has been suspended for one week for a dangerous charge on Chiefs lock Michael Allardice.

The Hurricanes will play the Blues at 7.35pm this Saturday.
