Good news for Rotuma.

Telecom Fiji and its subsidiary Connect Internet Services went a step further in bridging the digital divide between the rural and urban areas by opening a Connect Internet cafe in Ahau, Rotuma.

The opening of the Internet services coincides with the Rotuma Day celebrations that began yesterday.

TFL's Acting CEO Taito Tabaleka said the provisioning of internet services to this remote island was not easy, considering the distance and resources available in Rotuma. Despite the challenges, TFL through its VTSat Satellite services was able to provide the link to set up the Connect Cafe in Ahau.

Tabaleka said the development will enable the Rotumans access and a huge wealth of information at their fingertips.

Meanwhile the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and the government delegation are also in Rotuma for the celebrations.
