The National Farmers Union in their special meeting yesterday discussed the proposal in the report of India's consultant, Dr.M. Krishnamurti's issue of native reserved land to be de-reserved.
Union President Jain Kumar told Village News there is some confusion amongst the people that all native reserves have being proposed to be de-reserved. He said farmers have agreed that there should be a solution to land problems as soon as possible.
Kumar said there was an estimated damage of over $5 million to cane crops due to tropical cyclone Gene.
