Youths in Lautoka will join their global counterparts in making their expectations heard for the Millenium Development Goal campaign through a music event this Saturday.
Non Government Organisation, FRIEND's Executive Director Sashi Kiran said that Fiji MDG report states that Fiji will not be able to meet the MDG 1 by 2015 and the Music event is call on the Government to speed up its commitment to MDGs.
The World Leaders will convene their meeting on the 20th of this month in New York.
Meanwhile, a new World Bank report prepared for the MDGs review summit now estimates that as a result of the food, fuel and financial crises, 64 million more people are living in extreme poverty in 2010, and some 40 million more people went hungry last year.
By 2015, 1.2 million more children under five may die, and about 100 million more people may remain without access to safe water.
The World Bank Group has announced that it will mobilise significant new funding for health, education and agriculture to help countries achieve their MDGs by 2015.
