The Health Ministry has raised serious concern about school canteens selling junk food items to students.
Spokesperson Iliesa Tora said that there is a canteen policy put out by the Education Ministry with the help of the Health Ministry, Food and Nutrition and dieticians, however he said it seems the school management has turned a blind eye to it.
He said that they are seriously looking into the issue and will sit with the Education Ministry to discuss it further.
Tora said that schools and managements should think about the matter seriously.
Meanwhile, Tora said that the De-worming program currently underway in schools has been a success and they expect to get progress reports from their officers next week.
