Fiji Television Limited is confident that they will have live coverage of the men’s 7s Rio Olympics competition.
Concerns have been raised that all the women’s 7s matches were delayed on the free to air stations and on Sky Pacific earlier today.
The live feed of the Olympics is coming to Fiji TV and is then given to FBC TV and Sky Pacific as Fiji One had secured the broadcast rights earlier this year.
CEO of Fijian Holdings Limited which is the majority shareholder of Fiji TV, Nouzab Fareed says that they have contacted the organizers this morning as the delayed feed was provided from Rio.
Fareed says they were not informed about this and this was unplanned.
He says direct talks are now underway to ensure that they get live coverage of the women’s 7s competition tomorrow and the men’s competition from Wednesday to Friday.
Fareed says the complaint was filed this morning.
The Fiji men’s 7s side will take on Brazil in their first Rio Olympics pool game at 4.30am this Wednesday, they will then face Argentina at 9.30am Wednesday before taking on USA at 4.30am Thursday.
The quarterfinals will start at 8am Thursday, the semis will start at 5.30am Friday and the final will kick off at 10am Friday.
Barring any upsets, Fiji will meet France, Kenya or Argentina in the Medal Quarter Final, Australia or Great Britain in the Medal Semi Final and NZ or South Africa in the Gold Medal Final.
