Concerns have been raised on the rate of fire incidence for this month alone which now stands at four within a span of just nine days.

National Fire Authority Chief Fire Officer Tupou Saubulinayau said there is a need for everyone to work together to reduce the fire occurrence in Fiji adding that fire prevention is important and should be practiced in homes.

This comes after a fire over the weekend destroyed three bedroom house off Vesi Street in Flagstaff, Suva which left six people homeless.

Five children were in the house when the fire broke out however they managed to escape to safety.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire started from one of the bedrooms.

There were also two fires in the Western Division last week and a house was destroyed in fire in Caubati on Friday.
