Serious concerns have been raised by a Political Party regarding the appointment of the Chairman of the Independent Monitoring Group for the National Council for Building a Better Fiji and the People's Charter process.
National Federation Party General Secretary, Pramod Rae said Geert Van Der Linden who has been appointed the Chairman of the group has previously worked with John Samy who is the head of Technical and Support Secretariat for the NCBBF.
Rae said the group is not independent as both would share similar views on issues.
However, Samy said that if anyone wants to raise questions on the appointment, they have to do it with the President's Office.
Samy adds that he had recommended the names of many prominent people for the Independent group but it was the President who had the final say.
The Independent Monitoring group consists of Linden, Reverend Carolyn Amy Chambers and Robin Nair.
