Those are the words of Interim Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Epeli Nailatikau in reference to the meeting held yesterday with members and the Dean of the Diplomatic Corp about security in the country and threats to the Australian High Commissioner.
Ratu Nailatikau said now that the Diplomatic Corp have raised their concerns, it is time for the host country to take the next step.
The Australian High Commission has received two death threats, one via personal delivery through a man in a taxi and the other via the mail.
Also, the interim government has refused the request by the Australian government to send in Australian Federal Police to provide security to their High Commissioner and Commission staff in light of the threats.
The Interim Foreign Affairs Minister said the decision has been made and local police will provide the required security adding there is no need for the Australian Federal Police to enter the country.
