Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama maintains that the race based voting system needs to go, as it goes against all the multi-racial policies that Fiji needs to embrace.
Commodore Bainimarama said there are a lot of racial remarks around, when we have race based voting as people are going for the communal seats and they want to get into parliament at any cost.
The Interim PM said he is not worried about those who are against his idea, as the change will be one of the ways to eradicate racial discrimination.
It has been confirmed that the voting system is expected to be discussed during the formulation of the People's Charter.
