The Commonwealth Secretariat has refused to comment on whether it is still willing to facilitate and appoint a chairperson for the proposed Presidential Political Dialogue Forum to discuss electoral changes and help take the country forward.

While responding to questions from Fijivillage, the Director Communication and Public Affairs for the Commonwealth Secretariat Eduardo del Buey said they will not say anything further than what is stated in the communiqué of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group after its meeting in New York last week.

In its concluding statement, CMAG encouraged the Secretary General of the Commonwealth to continue his engagement with the interim government however, Del Buey also refused to comment on whether there is communication between the Secretariat and the interim government in trying to convene the proposed forum as soon as possible.

After the 30th Meeting of CMAG, the group expressed serious concern at the lack of progress towards elections in March 2009 as pledged to the region after it received an update from the Secretary General of the Commonwealth on developments in Fiji since May this year.
