Commodore Esala Teleni is the new Fiji Rugby Union Board member.

Taleni was today appointed to the board by the FRU Trustees.

He is also the Government nominee on the FRU board.

Other new appointments today were Sikeli Tikoduadua, the Chief executive of Home Finance and Colonial's Vili Varasikete.

These officials were elected during the FRU Annual General Meeting in Lautoka today.

Meanwhile the Fiji Rugby Union has made a profit of $911,000 for the year ending 31st December 2009.

This has been a big turnaround after the $770,000 loss occurred in 2008.

The audited financial report was tabled in the FRU Annual General Meeting currently underway at the Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.

The profit shown on the financial report, most of the income has from the Northern Hemisphere Tour where the flying Fijians played against Scotland and Ireland.

FRU also received a $1.1 million grant from IRB in 2009 and $3 million came from the sponsorship.

FRU Chief Executive Keni Dakuidreketi also confirmed that the Flying Fijians will again be touring Northern Hemisphere at the end of this season.

They have lined up games against France, Wales and Italy.

This will be part of their build-up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
