Two sub-committees have been set up to look at ways of controlling the abuse of the already listed volatile substances such as glue sniffing by minors in schools.

In a statement, Interim Minister for Education Filipe Bole stressed the Ministry is seriously concerned on how glue sniffing is escalating at an alarming rate and efforts to protect children needs to be vigilantly pursued.

Bole said although avenues are being explored to caution suppliers of the need to take heed when selling these products to minors, it is reaching crisis proportions.

The two committees are the National Substance Abuse Advisory Secretariat and the Police Drug Unit which will be formulating regulations and developing a code of conduct.
