The National Coordinating Committee on Children (NCCC) has condemned the recent crime committed against a class three student of Suva.

The NCCC chairperson Govind Sami said that the incident is alarming and calls for stringent actions to be taken from all authorities concerned.

He has welcomed the Education Ministry calling for safer environment in school and for teachers to be more aware of their student's whereabouts saying a crime as such should not have happened.

He said the Committee will continue to work with UNICEF and all other child protection agencies to develop sound child protection policies for the emergence of a safer environment for children.
