The Boxing Commission of Fiji has appointed a two member committee to investigate why there was a last minute cancellation in the heavyweight title boxing clash between current champion Petero Qica and Napoleon Taumoepeau.

It includes Boxing Commission of Fiji members Usman Ali and Leone Cabenatabua.

Acting Director of the Commission, Malakai Veisamasama says the committee will be speaking to some witnesses and also look into Qica’s medical report before making a recommendation.

Qica pulled a hamstring before the fight and called for a cancellation.

Meanwhile, Boxing promoter Abdul Khan wants the boxing commission to strip Petero Qica of his title and give it to Napoleon Taumoepeau.

Khan says during the weigh-in Qica was declared fit by a doctor.

He says he does not agree with the second medical result that was provided by Qica which stated that he had a muscle injury.
