The Commerce Commission is calling for written submissions from people and airline stakeholders as it now begins examining the conduct of domestic airlines industry in the country.
Commission Chairman Dr Mahendra Reddy said that after concerns raised by the many people on the issue, in particular Pacific Sun, the Commission will now examine the domestic airline market in relation to the objectives of the Commission.
Reddy said the Commission wants to know whether Pacific Sun or any other operator has substantial market powers in the domestic market.
Dr Reddy said he has informed Pacific Sun, Northern Airline Charter Services Limited and other stakeholders on the matter and the current consultation process will run from today to 19th March.
He said during these time Pacific Sun has also been invited to send in its submissions to the Commission.
He said the Commission will also have public hearings on the matter later.
