The Commerce Commission has now started analysing the pricing structure of hardware materials sold by the prominent hardware companies in Fiji to ascertain if these operators are engaged in price fixing.

Commission Chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy confirmed to Fijivillage News that they have managed to gather all their relevant information despite the alleged attempts by some Hardware outlets to conceal certain information.

Dr. Reddy said they hope to be able to come to a conclusion and make public their findings in the next week or so.

The investigation was prompted by allegations that the major hardware companies are fixing the prices of materials to ensure that they are selling at prices were all companies benefit taking away any chances of consumers getting competitive prices.

The Commerce Commission had to obtain court orders to have access to the documents from various hardware companies.

Meanwhile, Police are yet to make any arrests in relation to the Commerce Commission staff, who was allegedly assaulted and threatened to stop what they were doing.
