The Commerce Commission is expected to make a decision soon in relation to their investigations into restrictive trade practices followed by some businesses in Fiji.

The investigation started last month following complaints from the members of the public and a beverage company who had alleged that a leading supermarket in Fiji has refused to buy and sell their drinks because they have an exclusive contract with certain suppliers.

Commission Chairman Dr Mahendra Reddy said they will make a decision sometime this week.

Dr Reddy had earlier said that they want to ensure that there are no exclusive arrangements between the suppliers.

He also said that they do not want to impose fines however if businesses continuously engage in restrictive trade practices, they may recommend heavy fines and prison term.
